This guide explains, in plain terms, the network infrastructure we design to give you high-performance connectivity: reliable, able to absorb a large number of devices, and covering all of your premises.

Three pillars guide every installation: density (the number of devices and users supported simultaneously), coverage (no weak spots or dead zones) and reliability (a stable connection, day after day). This document explains what our offering includes, without unnecessary jargon.

Structured cabling: copper and optical fibre

What is structured cabling?

Structured cabling is the physical skeleton of your network: an organized set of cables, outlets and panels connecting every connection point (desk, room, Wi-Fi access point) to a central technical room. Well designed, it makes the network simple to expand and to troubleshoot.

Copper (Ethernet)

Copper cables (category 6, 6A or higher) connect workstations, printers and access points near the technical room. They provide a stable, cost-effective connection that is sufficient for most day-to-day uses.

Optical fibre

Fibre carries data as light rather than electricity. It is used for longer links or those with higher throughput demands:

  • Backbone (or vertical) fibre : connects technical rooms to each other, for example between floors or buildings.
  • Horizontal fibre : runs as close as possible to users or Wi-Fi access points, to guarantee high throughput even in dense areas or areas far from the technical room.

Horizontal fibre in particular brings the power of fibre closer to the busiest Wi-Fi access points, which limits bottlenecks.

Wi-Fi 6E / 7 with coverage surveys

Why Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7?

These are the most recent generations of Wi-Fi technology. They bring three concrete benefits over previous generations:

  • More throughput : faster data transfers, useful for video conferencing, cloud services or heavy applications.
  • Less interference : Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 use the 6 GHz band, a frequency free of many older devices.
  • Better performance in dense environments : several dozen devices can connect to the same access point without noticeable slowdown.

Coverage surveys (site survey)

Before any installation, we carry out an on-site coverage survey: a precise measurement of how the Wi-Fi signal propagates through your premises, accounting for walls, materials and sources of interference.

This survey determines the exact number and placement of access points needed to eliminate weak zones, while avoiding unnecessary installations. The result: uniform coverage, sized for the real use of your spaces rather than for a rough estimate.

Managed switching and VLAN segmentation

What is a managed switch?

The switch is the device that distributes the network connection to all workstations, printers and Wi-Fi access points in a space. A managed switch, unlike a consumer model, can be finely configured, monitored and secured, which makes it suited to demanding professional environments.

VLAN segmentation, explained simply

A VLAN (virtual local area network) divides a single physical network into several distinct logical networks, as if creating separate lanes on the same road. This brings two major advantages:

  • Security : sensitive data (billing, management) can travel on a VLAN isolated from guests or connected devices.
  • Performance : traffic is better organized, which reduces congestion-related slowdowns and makes diagnosis easier when a problem occurs.

In a typical installation you will find, for example, a VLAN for workstations, a VLAN for telephony, a VLAN for guest Wi-Fi and a VLAN dedicated to cameras or connected devices.
